The L-398A Studio Deluxe III is the classic ambient continuous light selenium cell powered (battery free) studio light meter for incident or reflected readings. Its robust construction and battery-free operation make it a favourite of colleges and studios. It is supplied with flat or concave diffuser discs to give accurate incident readings for point or wider light sources, with a swivelling head to enable convenient viewing of the reading. As well as shutter speed and apertures, cine speeds, EV and Foot Candle values are also displayed. Includes case and strap.
Standard incident readings are taken with the Lumisphere attachment, but this can be replaced with the flat Lumidisc for point light source readings.
For reflected light readings the Lumigrid is employed (angle of reading is 30°).
A High Slide can be inserted to reduce light entering the meter when extremely bright conditions cause the needle to deflect beyond the scale.
In normal operation, the value indicated by the needle is transferred to the rotary dial and the shutter speed/aperture combinations read off, but this operation can be speeded up by using the optional Direct Reading Slide Set, which allows aperture values to be read instantly against a set shutter speed.
Exposure value, Cine speeds and Foot Candle values are also displayed.
