Coronavirus: our response
Updated: 23rd April
With the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis since the middle of March, there is understandably heightened concern everywhere, and we would like to assure our customers that we have taken measures to reduce the possibility of the virus infecting our workplace, in line with government advice.
Two of our staff are now working from home, and are dealing with phone and emails. Our internet-based systems enable them to communicate normally as well as access nearly all the information which would be available in our office, so you should not notice any difference when contacting us.
Office and warehouse
Only one person is now on the premises (the boss). Rigorous hygiene procedures are in place including thorough hand washing immediately on entering the building, after receiving and handling any boxes which have been delivered, and regularly throughout the day. Door handles and frequently handled items are disinfected daily. A safe working distance is kept from couriers.
IF YOU REQUIRE GOODS QUICKLY, PLEASE USE THE NEXT DAY SERVICE.
We can guarantee near normal despatch time, BUT NOT WHEN YOUR PARCEL WILL BE DELIVERED
With one person in the warehouse handling over double our usual order volume, we may be slightly slower than usual in getting your order away. Although our courier DPD is achieving near normal delivery times, Royal Mail non-guaranteed services are slower than usual - so standard service items will be delayed and we ask for your patience please.
Our recommendations to you
Both Royal Mail and DPD are now delivering without the need for you to sign a handset when receiving a parcel, and will leave the parcel a safe distance from you on request.
Although the risk of infection transmission from packaging is relatively low, we would strongly advise that after unpacking your parcel you dispose of the outer packing material and immediately wash your hands before handling the contents.
OUR COLLECTION COUNTER IS NOW CLOSED
Following the Government announcement on Monday 23rd March, we must now request that customers do not visit our premises to view or collect goods. Please use our mail order service, which is operating normally.
Goods supply situation
The majority of our suppliers have planned for extra stocks since the first outbreak of the virus in China, and subsequently in Europe, but inevitably there are some products which we are waiting for which will not arrive until sometime next month at the earliest. Some are operating a limited despatch service, so there will be a delay in us receiving goods. At present, our German suppliers are also functioning normally, with only a 1-2 day transit delay being experienced. Fotoimpex in Berlin who distribute Adox and Cinestill are struggling to keep up with demand: we will remove any products from our website which are not expected within 2-3 weeks.
We wish all our customers well in these trying circumstances.
