Coronavirus: our response
Updated: 26th March
With the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis since the middle of March, there is understandably heightened concern everywhere, and we would like to assure our customers that we are taking measures to reduce the possibility of the virus infecting our workplace, in line with government advice.
Two of our staff are now working from home. Our internet-based systems enable them to communicate normally as well as access nearly all the information which would be available in our office, so you should not notice any difference when contacting us.
Office and warehouse
Only one person is now on the premises (the boss). Rigorous hygiene procedures are in place including thorough hand washing immediately on entering the building, after receiving and handling any boxes which have been delivered, and regularly throughout the day. Door handles and frequently handled items are disinfected twice a day. A safe working distance is kept from couriers.
OUR COLLECTION COUNTER IS NOW CLOSED
Following the Government announcement on Monday 23rd March, we must now request that customers do not visit our premises to view or collect goods. Please use our mail order service, which is operating normally.
Our recommendations to you
We use Royal Mail and DPD for deliveries: both organisations are still operating well although staffing levels may impact on next day delivery guarantees. Both are now delivering without the need for you to sign a handset when receiving a parcel, and will leave the parcel a safe distance from you on request.
Although the risk of infection transmission from packaging is relatively low, we would strongly advise that after unpacking your parcel you dispose of the outer packing material and immediately wash your hands before handling the contents.
Goods supply situation
The majority of our suppliers have planned for extra stocks since the first outbreak of the virus in China, and subsequently in Europe. Some suppliers are now closing until mid-April, and where possible we have purchased forward stocks. At present, our German suppliers are also functioning normally, with only a 1-2 day transit delay being incurred.
We wish all our customers well in these trying circumstances.
