The Manfrotto plate goes into the QRM-C receiver unit (adaptable for deep or shallower bodied cameras) to enable the camera to be quickly attached and detached from the bracket.
The small CK-501 piece bolts to the base of the bracket to enable it to fit directly into a Manfrotto RC2 pattern quick release.
n.b. these restrictions: can't be used with 054, 804RC2, 460MG, 055 type heads
