The popular Manfrotto 496RC2 tripod head provides a 6kg payload which serves most purposes with minimal bulk and weight. The ergonomically-shaped locking knob can be repositioned by pulling it sideways, moving it to the required position, and releasing, locking both the ball and the revolving base. Dual side slots allow a +90°/-90° tilt. A separate knob controls the ball friction to allow it to matched to the load. It's supplied with a 200PL quick release plate.
