The simple way to attach the Hoodman Loupe to a DSLR is with the Cinema Strap, but this doesn't give you a quick way of detaching the Loupe if you want to use the camera viewfinder. The HoodCrane slots into any standard hot shoe and makes switching between DSLR Video Capture (or using Liveview) with the LCD Screen and shooting stills through the viewfinder quick and easy. A spring release latch on the HoodCrane allows the Loupe to swing up and pivot out of the way and then returns the Loupe to the exact same position on the screen. A cold shoe on top of the swivel allows a light or microphone to be mounted on the camera.
